Titration of virus using baculoQUANT

OET has also developed a rapid titration system based on quantitative PCR (QPCR). Budded virus DNA is purified from virus particles using freshly amplified virus inoculum. The virus DNA is then added to a QPCR reaction and amplified in an ABI7500 Sequence Detection System. The quantity of virus particles is then determined using a proprietary method that has been published in a peer reviewed journal. Whilst this method has proven to be as accurate as plaque assay in our hands, we only use it for virus stocks that are below three months of age. Older virus stocks aggregate, and the virus particles may also degrade, resulting in spurious results. In these instances we use plaque assay.

If you wish to take advantage of our baculoQUANT service all you have to do is to send us 0.5ml of each virus you wish us to titrate. We will then do the titrations for you and send the results back to you by email.

As well as providing baculoQUANT as a service OET also provides baculoQUANT in a kit format to use in your own lab.
