Standard courses
We offer short intensive baculovirus expression training courses and individually tailored training in baculovirus expression technology.
These courses are a mix of theory and practice, covering all aspects of baculovirus recombinant protein expression techniques from cell culture, co-transfection, plaque assays and optimisation to protein expression, automation and new technologies. Participants will be provided with a comprehensive protocol booklet, together with materials so that the baculovirus system can be set up in the participants own laboratory.
Customised to individual requirements, baculovirus training covers all practical aspects of using the baculovirus recombinant protein expression system including:
- media preparation
- insect cell culture
- scale-up
- virus amplification and purification
- virus titration by plaque assay
- purification of virus DNA
- transfection of insect cells
- screening of recombinant virus
- amplification of recombinant virus
- optimisation of gene expression
- extraction and analysis of virus DNA and proteins from infected cells
